Life’s driving you crazy, child caught by the law
Your neighbor keeps using that man-cursing saw
Mumble some jumbo about fresh family trouble
Your problems are bigger than the fires seen by Hubble
You’re swallowed alive like the fish did to Jonah
It happens to us all — be it John, Tom or Mona
A friendship gone wrong, a spouse who’s one volt
The story of our life, why not close it and bolt
If the pain is too great, revisit your story
Especially those parts that are bound to be gory
Have the courage to battle the boils of your trauma
Just promise you’ll not summon the ghost of your momma
All that poison and pus, it’s nasty and ripe
Still eats at the soul no matter how often you swipe
A cyst must be opened, you feel it no doubt
It’s already infected, it’s gotta come out
Come here to excise it — are you willing to chance it?
Let the lay of this land be your sharp, sterile lancet
Cry out to God, you prideful and strong-willed
He welcomes the one who sees their need to be filled
His Spirit is gentle, it feels like the wind
It’s available to all, regardless of sin
If you hope to have healing, let Him clean out the hurt
This land is a place where He does His best work
This land’s luscious language laughs, “Do not disturb”
To describe it’s impossible in this long-winded blurb
Its valleys and hilltops, please sip them to taste
Like a mini-Yosemite, you can think of this place
Except at this camp there’s no crowds, cars or cries
Its beauty will astound you, heave wonder-filled sighs
When your cleansing is done you’ll feel your spine tingle
Among these oaks and these rocks your childhood will mingle
Come realize the results of the recent spring rain
Then listen to nothing and rewire the brain
The quiet here is better than the juice from the vine
You may hear yourself whisper, “Wow, I finally feel fine!”
The clock is quite short, don’t live in suspense
Feel famished for freedom, fly out of your fence
To review, rewrite, or a chance to just vent
When the fire has died down you can zip up your tent
