Why can’t my flesh stop sinning
Always looking to start a fight
Of the ways I hurt myself and others
A thousand novels I could write
My mouth is filled with ammo
Aimed and ready to fire away
My heart is stone, colder than snow
But then my spirit prays
I’m crucified with Christ
My life He has reclaimed
He puts down my gun, look in my eyes
Reminds me of who I am
He tells me that I am forgiven
With a love that knows no bounds
Christ lives in me, His gift is free
I stand tall in victory
No longer does God condemn
Christ’s blood makes me His friend
I wear a robe of righteousness
Of His love there is no end
Jesus took away the keys of hell
Now I thirst for Heaven’s well
God’s renewing my tongue, a new life begun
Read Romans chapter eight verse one
When it’s time to vacate the city
The Spirit leads me to Mountain View
Behind me is the door to Yosemite
It’s the perfect place to renew
The Holy Spirit comes to teach me
And unwind my paralyzed mind
When I confess my sin, He will forgive
