One twin thinks he’s a poet, the other somewhat rich
One hears a piano buyer’s call, the other a barber’s pitch
One says, “Welcome to United, we’ll fly you ‘round the globe!”
The other is content at church, his hands he’d rather fold
One collects his keepsakes, a souvenir for each day that’s past
The other says, “Furnish me with simple things, of wood or tempered glass.”
The first man ponders marriage, not open to that idea
The second one is soul-bound to a woman named Maria
They live in different countries, two siblings a bit far-flung
A language they have in common though, the lovely Spanish tongue
Two humans who are broken, they’ve faced their share of testing
Will they hold God’s hand more tightly, or refuse to believe He’s blessing?
“More strangers than close brothers,” hisses that defeated toothless robber
“Watch them trust Me for their healing,” replies the one Who’s called their Father
“As they follow My will, their sins are expunged and revoked
Striving to crucify their flesh, in My righteous robe they’re cloaked.”
“This life is but a puff of smoke, reminds the Book of James
Peek at Revelation, then you’ll see a pile of flames
“Desire to do the right thing, recall the story of David”
Always stay close to Me, and I’ll keep you motivated”
The Father He has spoken, His promises are true
The twins are choosing narrow paths, the way of the few
Although bodies they do shrivel, becoming like beef jerky
That inner light it slowly grows, becoming much less murky
Forty-nine years are over, the fiftieth one begins
A joyful time to celebrate these God-reflecting twins
God says: “As you walk toward My Light, I’ll give You My Might, You’re My delight!”
