Hello Former and Future Campers and Guests of Jewels Vista:
We’re excited to let you know that California Senate Bill-6021 (2023) will soon be voted on. And we anticipate that the bill will pass! This bill will allow low-impact camping at locations such as Jewels Vista. We’re really looking forward to seeing and serving our guests in the upcoming months.
SB 620 aims to exclude low-impact camping areas from the definition of special occupancy parks under the Special Occupancy Parks Act in California. The bill defines a low-impact camping area as a private property that allows temporary sleeping accommodations for recreational purposes, with certain requirements. These requirements include limitations on the duration of occupancy, the number of accommodations, compliance with fire safety and tax regulations, and adherence to waste disposal and quiet hour rules. The bill also clarifies that accessing private property for low-impact camping requires the landowner’s permission. Additionally, it grants counties the authority to enforce waste disposal and quiet hour requirements for low-impact camping areas.
